How to start your mid-career job search:

By Ishrath Posted Date: October 03, 2017

There are many reasons why you may be considering a mid-career job search, it could be to gain a competitive advantage and move to a better position and pay at another organisation or maybe even to pursue a change in the type of work that you do due to a lack of growth. Regardless of the reasons, a mid-career job search for mature candidates can present a variety of challenges. Older job seekers can face restrictions and road blocks that make the mid-career job search a difficult process.

For instance their family situation could mean it is difficult for them to relocate or move for the job, may have trouble with commuting long distances and even accepting a lower pay. (In some cases a career change might require you to start at a slightly lower position than what you held before). Other issues can include a lack of specialisation due to a broad career history and even employers having a bias against older/overqualified candidates.

If you are a mid-career job seeker there are some strategies that can help you improve your strengths and make you more attractive to employers, discussed below are some tips on how to start your mid-career job search...

Can learning to code help you find a new job?

By Ishrath Posted Date: September 19, 2017

Coding boot camps and training has become a norm in most major cities; these types of places offer various courses on coding. Coding is the backend or core structure on which web applications, websites, and nearly all computer and mobile software is built on.

Although coding can look very complicated to the general public, learning to code is just like learning any language. At first it can all seem like senseless gibberish until you start to understand the programming language better.  Learning to code is especially advantageous if you are already within the IT industry and looking to improve your career prospects or even just in search of a new job. How sales training can help you get a marketing job

By Ishrath Posted Date: September 12, 2017

If you’re on the hunt for a marketing job you are most likely going to realise that the competition within the industry is quite high. This means that you must find a way to differentiate yourself from the rest of the pack.  One way to do this is broadening your knowledge of sales, which will help you:

  • Present better – when you understand how the sales process works and learn to identify exactly what customers are looking for you will be able to build better marketing presentations. When creating marketing presentations the main objective is to capture the audience and engage them. In order to do this you need to understand what they are looking for and show them what value there is to gain from the product or service. When it comes to sales, the goal is pretty much the same, the salesman must try and convince the customer to purchase something by showing them what value is there in doing so.
  • Know what closing a deal is about: Marketing is essentially a form of sales, and in sales learning how to close a deal is essential. Knowing about sales will make you more valuable to the company you are applying to, this not only shows you how to hook or capture a customer but also how to reel them in (convert them).
  • Perform better at marketing events: Sales will help you improve your communication skills when it comes to the customer. Being able to inform the customer about the product and also converting them is essential. Having sales training will ensure you are more confident at marketing events and help you feel more comfortable talking to potential customers. This improves your skills from just general marketing and advertising techniques.
