The latest hype in the technology world is virtual reality and it is a piece of technology that has the potential to change everything. To properly understand how VR can impact our future it is important to look at it as an interface rather than just a piece of hardware. VR can change the way things are done in many industries.
Discussed below are some ways the VR may be used in the workplace:
- Virtual Recruitment: Virtual reality could change certain aspects of the recruitment process like the way testing is done. So things like personality and psychometric testing can now be an immersive experience. For instance for a sales job, the applicant can be put in a scenario where they have to demonstrate their skills and how they would interact with a customer. Similarly for behaviour testing the applicant can be put in a variety of scenarios and assessed on how they deal with those scenarios.
- Talent Acquisition: VR can give candidates the option of interacting with a simulated work environment, shadow other employees and even take a tour of the office and role. This gives them the opportunity to properly experience a role and decide if it’s the right one for them.
- Training: Virtual reality can revolutionise workplace training into an interactive experience. The interactive and hands on training approach that VR will provide can make workers more likely to remember and learn from them. They can be put in different situations which will help them improve on their talents and whichever skill they are receiving training for.
