Employers generally expect candidates to be ready to hit the ground running and be able to take on a new role with complete confidence.
This makes it essential that you know your own unique selling points and how you are different; you must also understand how this will contribute value to the employer now and in the future. This will improve your chances of being hired.
How can you be your best?
The best advice for a recent graduate in a training programme would be to try and show your talents during the earlier stages. Some tips to building a better profile at work
- You must be able to describe what you enjoy doing at work and help them see where (and how) you can add value to the business
- Important to be able to stretch yourself into new areas, by trying to get involved in different projects. You must be okay to go outside your comfort zone and learn new things too.
- You must be adaptable to change
- At interviews make yourself stand out by describing your abilities and passions, also equally important to know your weaknesses (‘being too focused’ or ‘working too hard’ is not a weakness)
